Today I wanted to go through the makeup products I discovered last year that I loved! Some are new to last year and some were just discoveries for me. I hope you enjoy.

Eyeshadow palettes:
in 2018, I discovered loads of new eyeshadow palettes that I fell in love with, and to be honest most of them are by revolution! I loved the Soph extra spice as well as Tammi's and Carmi's palettes and I've used them the most this year! I also loved my Obsession palette that I customised and wore that I lot this year too

Brow products:
In September I received the Bang Beauty eyebrow pomade in my glossy box and fell in love with it! I really love the formula of this product and thought it definitely deserved a mention!
I also discovered the soap and glory archery brow fibre gel! I love this little product and it makes my brows look so much fuller than they are!

Mascara:
My favourite mascara that I tried in 2018 was the Loreal Unlimited mascara! I love this mascara, it's really lengthening and volumising.

Concealer:
The best concealer I tried last year was the Revolution fast base concealer! I really like this concealer and I think it's so good considering how cheap it is!

Blush, bronzer and highlight:
I discovered a few new blushes last year! Firstly the Nyx away we glow liquid illuminiser in rose quartz I love as a shimmery liquid blush! Its so gorgeous and it quickly became my favourite blush!
For a more every day look, I really love the essence matt touch blush in berry me up! I bought this because I forgot to bring a blush for graduation and it's such a perfect everyday blush shade.

I also fell in love with the revolution Soph highlighter palette! The shades are so gorgeous and not chunky at all but give an amazing glow! I also really liked the revolution Imogenation highlight to the moon palette which I love both the bronzers/ contour shades and the highlighters too!
Finally, I also loved the Nyx bright idea illuminating stick in sandy glow for a glowing bronze.

Lip products:
There weren't as many lip products that I discovered and fell absolutely in love with compared to last year but I did discover some that I really liked and that stood out for me!
Firstly my fave has to be the Karl Lagerfeld and model co lip pencil in Rosewood. I can't even explain my love for this lip pencil it's so creamy and such a gorgeous colour that looks amazing on it's own or with some gloss on top.
Leading on to my next product, the Nyx cosmic metals lip cream in crystalized metal, a metallic lip cream which looks really nice on top of that lip pencil. I wore those two products a lot last year for meals or going out!
I also really loved the Rimmel stay matte liquid lipstick in heartbeat such a flattering bright pink and I honestly love it for when I'm feeling a bit bolder
Finally, I also fell in love with the Huda beauty liquid lipstick formula, so light it's insane! I have mine in girlfriend which is a very easy everyday nude colour, nothing too fancy and the smells a bit overpowering but it's the formula that really sold me!

I hope you enjoyed this post! What were your fave makeup items last year?
Lots of love,
Hope you are doing well. It's honestly been so long since I wrote a blog post and it feels slightly strange being back and writing one! Like I've said in my previous posts, I am really busy with my masters at the moment and I am finding it hard to blog much to be honest so I am not making any blog promises for 2019 only that I try and blog when I feel I can!
Anyway, I always love doing my yearly book round ups they're my favourite posts to write every year so I wanted to write this! I have linked all the books I have reviewed over last year too.
in 2018 I managed to read 22 books, which is a bit low for me personally so I am going to try my best to beat that in 2019!

I found it really hard to come up with my favourite three books for this year so I just thought I'd talk about the books I liked the most! Firstly, I loved Ready Player One, it was one of those books I read and thought "Why haven't I read this before?" I really enjoyed it and would really recommend it if you're late to the party too. I also really enjoyed the Night Circus I thought that was a really good book and would really recommend it if you like gorgeous descriptions and a new world to fall into (I did a full review of this book.)
Another book I really liked was One of Us Is Lying I found it really intriguing and really enjoyed reading it. I also really loved Curious Incident which again I am really late in reading for the first time! Finally, I also loved Eleanor Oliphant is completely fine which I thought was a really important book!

To be fair, I really enjoyed nearly all the books I read this year! One book I want to mention is Sharp Objects, which was a really interesting book and probably the most stand out book that I've read this year and it really stuck with me! It was creepy and made me feel a bit ill reading it!

Another book I wanted to talk about is the Million Dollar blog. If you are a blogger I would really recommend reading this I found it so interesting and really helpful!

As usual a couple of books I wasn't the biggest fan of. Firstly, Hold back the stars I have some reservations for. Again I have a full review of that but the ending really irked me!
Secondly, The Girl Before wasn't really my cup of tea if I am being honest. It had a pretty good story line but also a few fifty shades of grey esque bits which I'm not a big fan of!

And that is my round up! I would recommend nearly all of the books I read last year!
Did you read any of those books? Do you have any suggestions for me for 2019?
Lots of love,
Hope you are doing well!
I was recently contacted by Paperless post (https://www.paperlesspost.com/), an online card sending service if I would have a go on their site so of course I said yes because I was intrigued about it!

Paperless post is an online service whereby you can send adorable internet cards to your friends; They have a range of cards for all occasions and have professional looking invites too. They are the most gorgeous cards ever! They're so pretty and have designers including Kate Spade New York, Oscar de la Renta, Jonathan Adler and Rifle Paper co.

I have been sending some cards to all of my loved ones and they have honestly been so impressed with them too. I don't have any big occasions coming up but there is a super cute section called "just because" with some really pretty cards that can be sent at any time with an adorable message! And my mum especially has been loving me sending her cute cards.

I really like this because you're 100% helping towards sustainability with less paper and honestly, quality is not missed at all, in fact, I think the cards are nicer than any you see in shops! You also have full control over the card including the background design, fonts, messages and even the stamps too which is pretty cool. There is also space to put in your own photos too!

The website itself is really aesthetically pleasing and easy to get around too, and the cards send so fast so there's no waiting around or anything, they're sent and received really easily and you can send a beautiful card in a matter of seconds.

I honestly think this website would be really useful for a lot of people, especially for people wanting to make a little environmental change and for people who have accessibility problems who maybe find it difficult to actually buy a card and send it! As well if you're the type of person who forgets birthdays and anniversaries this would come in useful as you can send it on the day!

Overall I really like this website and I think it's a really cool way to send round invitations, birthday cards or just cute little just because cards to cheer someone up quickly!

Lots of love,
Today I wanted to talk about a mascara from Loreal. This mascara has been talked about quite a lot and I thought I would share some of my own thoughts about this.

Firstly, this mascara has a really bulky packaging which I'm not the biggest fan of but it doesn't annoy me too much! It's kind of like a large bulb which makes it kind of hard to travel with if you have a thin makeup case! A big feature of this mascara is it has a bendy wand, so you can move the wand sideways which could be pretty useful for some people but I personally don't really use this feature. Either way, this product looks pretty unique and interesting and definitely stands out to other drugstore mascaras.

I really love the formula of this mascara! It's really lengthening and volumising without being clumpy or spidery at all. It doesn't feel heavy at all on the eyelashes either. The only thing I wish was that this mascara would be more curling. I find that although it gives length and volume it doesn't lift the lashes up which for me is a problem as my lashes need that bit of curl from a mascara!

One thing I have seen people saying about this mascara is that it's a benefit bad gal bang dupe and I can seen why people are saying this because the volume this mascara gives is amazing! After a few coats my eyelashes look really good which as ever my very straight eyelashes need. I honestly actually prefer this formula to the bad gal bang one, I think it's a lot less wet and messy, and it doesn't transfer as badly as bad gal bang does! Also, this mascara has amazing length and separation too, something really missing from bad gal bang which was really clumpy, unlimited isn't clumpy at all!
(Pst, If you want to read my full review of the bad gal bang mascara you can here.) I think that if you like bad gal bang you will really like the unlimited mascara even more and it's cheaper!

I think this mascara has a really nice plastic brush which I really like too and you don't need too many coats of it to cover all of your lashes and make them look really long and volumized! This mascara is around £12 I think, so quite pricey for a drugstore mascara but I really think that it is worth it since it's so good! Loreal mascaras are really good in my opinion anyway and I think this is another good mascara from them! There's honestly nothing negative I have to say (I know that's unusual for me) for this mascara and I just think it's a really good option!

If you're looking for a drugstore mascara I would personally recommend this.
Lot of love,
Hope you are doing well! Today I wanted to do a review on the Revolution fast base concealer. Everyone has been talking about the conceal and define (which I am still yet to try because they never have my shade in!) but I've not seen that many people talk about this one so I thought I would give some of my thoughts!

This concealer is similar to the Maybelline age rewind concealer with a twisty end and the product coming out on a little sponge on the top which I personally quite like! It's really simple and effective even if I did have to spend ages trying to get the product out to begin with, and it does mess up the lid...

I really like the formula of this product. It is a medium consistency I would say, it's not too thin or too thick which is good, and doesn't look cakey under the eyes at all and it feels really lightweight! Also, this concealer doesn't crease at all which is such a big plus! It does a really good job of brightening too! (Im in the shade c3 btw).
It blends in really well but I would say to use it with a beauty sponge because I find that you can really see the brush marks with this concealer. I find this product to be really hydrating too and doesn't cling to any dry patches. I personally only need one twist for both eyes so I think it will last me a long time.

I have to say the concealer does wear on me after a while and by the end of the day I am noticing that I am looking quite tired and my eye bags are poking a bit through the concealer!

Also one strange thing is that I really don't like the smell of this concealer? I can't even put my finger on it but when I put it on in a morning I have to hold my nose a bit because I really don't like it! It goes away immediately and I can't smell it during the day or anything but the other day when I was really hungover I honestly couldn't face putting the product on my face because it smelled so bad so I had to use my trusty erase paste by benefit.

Another thing I noticed about this product is that it it's not very good to do cut creases with. When I tried to do one the other day it looked a bit strange on my eyelid! Not as good as my Revlon colour stay concealer looks anyway.

Despite the smell, I really like this product actually and I would really recommend this! It's a lovely lightweight medium buildable concealer that brightens, doesn't crease and doesn't cling to dry patches and for £5 that is pretty good!
Lots of love,
I hope you are doing well. Obviously, it has been a while (again) since I have uploaded a blog post! I am sorry but at the same time I have just started a masters and I am still getting used to everything and working out how blogging fits into everything for me so I would imagine my blog posts are going to be a bit scarce for a while, as I get back into the swing of things!

Today I thought I would do my review of the October glossybox (2018) and go through the products we received this month! I was overall very impressed by what we got! The theme of this month was Halloween and there were two boxes you could get, the trick or the treat box! I actually received the treat box this month and this is what I got!

Firstly, we received one of the Illamasqua anitmatter lipsticks, we got ours in the shade "nebula" which is a bright pink/purple lipstick! I really like the formula of this lipstick, its a pretty bright colour but if you pair it with a nude lipliner it can calm it down a bit and make it more wearable. This retails for £20.

This box also contained the MUA luxe strobe and glow highlighter in the shade pink lustre. I think the trick box contained the bronzer version of this product! I honestly love this highlighter! It's such a pretty colour and it's really pigmented too. it has a Powder and a cream highlight and yeah, not much to say but I really love it plus it's only £5.

Another thing we received in the box is the sleek i-divine palette in "oh so special." This palette is pretty cute, it has a perfect "day" to "night" ratio with the colours and they're really pigmented. There is a lot of kickback with this palette but it's such a nice little palette and I really love the colours.

The fourth makeup product we received was the Luna by Luna loose translucent setting powder. I had never heard of this brand before but I love a good translucent powder so I was excited to try this. The packaging isn't my favourite not going to lie, to me it feels quite cheap and the product leaks out a little too. I do like the product though and it doesn't cling to dry patches or anything and it is really brightening!

Finally, we received the this works in transit camera close up primer, mask and moisturiser. This was the only thing which was a deluxe sample size. I have been using this as a primer and I do like it. It's quite heavily scented and is white so you have to rub it in quite a lot! The full size product is £35 which to be honest I wouldn't pay not going to lie because i don't think it makes that much of a difference to my face or makes it look that amazing really. But I will still continue to use up the sample.

And that's everything we received this month! This was my second every glossybox and I was really impressed again and I'm really excited to see what we get next month!
Lots of love,
Hope you are doing well! I am back from a bit of a blogging hiatus! Basically, after my last blog post, I went to Amsterdam for a week and then two days after I got back and went back to Uni to start my masters so I have been busy settling into my new flat! I thought I would talk about what I did in Amsterdam, just in case you are going soon and what some ideas!

Amsterdam is definitely one of the places to be at the moment, I feel like everyone is jetting off there! I had wanted to go for ages but I wasn't sure if I would have the chance, but me and my boyfriend fell in lucky and he managed to get some time off so we could go. We booked a jet 2 package deal and stayed for 4 nights, but our flight in was really early and our flight out was late so it felt like we got a full 5 days there too.

Monday:
Like I said, our flight was super early and we got to Leeds/Bradford airport at half 4 for our plane at 6:45. Because Amsterdam is an hour ahead, it was pretty early by the time we arrived! We caught our tram and the train to our hotel, (XO hotels park west) which luckily we were able to go to our room straight away at about half 10. I was pretty tired so I closed my eyes for a bit while we decided where to go for lunch. We bought a 4-day tram ticket which was only £22 euros which was so good considering we used the tram everywhere every day! We weren't 100% sure what to do on our first day so we decided we might as well just head for the red light district and headed for that museum. Which was definitely an experience! Here's a lovely picture of me there (you're welcome).

Afterwards, we sort of just walked around all around there and where the palace is and stuff and just got a feel for the city! I didn't take too many pics because I didn't bring my camera with me but I really enjoyed my first day there just exploring really! We did, however, stop for (apparently) hollands best chips which were, to be fair, pretty yummy!

After hours of walking, we made our way back to the hotel and genuinely fell asleep so early we were exhausted!

Tuesday:
On Tuesday we decided to visit Vondelpark which was really nice! We had a pretty lazy morning and then headed here in the afternoon with a little picnic and just walked around the park which is really big! It's really busy and full of people on bikes but I would recommend going there! It's really pretty too!

We then had a walk around where all of the museums are, the Rijksmuseum and Van Gough. We didn't go in any yet but we just had an explore of that park of Amsterdam which was really nice! We also took some pictures next to the famous I Amsterdam sign of course!

We later went back to the hotel and then went back out for tea in the evening! We went for burgers from Thrill Burgers which were pretty good.

Wednesday:

On Wednesday we went for pancakes for breakfast! We headed to Mook Pancakes which were absolutely amazing and if you're in Amsterdam I would seriously check them out! Then we headed to the Van Gough museum which I was really looking forward too (Luke less so). I really enjoyed it though! Next time I want to go to the Rijkes instead!

After spending even more time wandering around that area we headed back home to grab our coats for the ice bar! I really enjoyed the ice bar experience it was really fun! You pay about £18 euros but you get three drinks included and coats and gloves! You get one drink in the warm area and two in the actual ice bar. The drinks are pretty limited to beer and shots in the cold part but the shots are actually really delicious and I really enjoyed it!

Thursday:
When we woke up Thursday we tried really hard to get Anne Frank House tickets and we luckily managed! If you are going to Amsterdam and want to go you have to book them so far in advance! They let out a limited number on the day (all online btw you can only buy tickets on their website) but they go quite fast! We didn't realise this but luckily after trying for a few days, we managed to get them on our last full day! I really enjoyed the experience and I thought it was really moving and I would 100% recommend going.

For tea we went to Cannibale Royale right in the red light district which was amazing! The food there was so good and I would also recommend this place to eat it was delicious!

Firday:
On our last day in Amsterdam, we had no idea what to do! We had been really lucky with weather all week untill Friday when it rained pretty badly! We decided to go back to our favourite places and we actually went into the prostitution museum which was actually really interesting! It's a pretty good museum and I would recommend it if you're interested in that sort of thing! We also, of course, went back for some more lovely chips where we visited on Monday!

And that was basically our city break to Amsterdam! I hope you enjoyed this post! Have you been to any of these places?
Lots of love,
I hope you are all doing well! I am back with another book review (i know I've been overloading you with book reviews but once I get back to uni I probably won't be reading much!). Today I wanted to tell you some of my thoughts on Dan Brown's latest instalment of the Robert Langon novels, Origin. Not going to lie, I actually haven't read any of Dan Brown's books before! Not even the infamous Da Vinci code but I wasn't sure what to read next so I thought I would give this one a go.

In this 5th instalment in this series, Langdon faces a predicament when his old student and friend Edmond Kirsch invites him to an evening in the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao where he is told Edmond has discovered the extremely controversial answer the two main questions in our lives; where did we come from? Where are we going? Facing threat after the chaotic end to the presentation, Langdon is forced to run with the museum curator to try and unlock Edmond's secret.

This book really delves into the controversial subject of science and religion, and the battle between the two and indeed how they can exist together. I liked the different opinions in this book, and how Langon is in favour of both of them existing together and it provided some very interesting ideas. I think it is pretty relevant in today's society too. I know that Dan Brown gets a lot of hate for his books and he's not considered a literary genius or anything but I found reading a little bit about Spain's history and the Catholic church really interesting too!

This book takes you through Barcelona in Spain, a city I love and it was pretty nice to be taken here and into some of the buildings that I love and have visited so I really enjoyed that aspect too. This book might be considered "drivel" to some, but it really does whip you into an exciting story that kept me gripping on to the very and I thoroughly enjoyed the book! I think this is the kind of novel that you just need to read and enjoy it on face value and not go into plot holes or things like that!

For what the book is, I honestly really enjoyed it. It was really tense and exciting and kept me guessing until the very end! I wasn't sure how it was going to end and I honestly didn't even guess the ending at all! I would definitely read some more of Dan Brown's books now and I want to try Angels and Demons and the Da Vinci code.

What did you think of this book?
Lots of love,
I hope you are doing well! I took the plunge at the beginning of this month and finally made the decision to subscribe to Glossybox. I have been wondering about whether to get a subscription box for ages and which one to go for and I've finally settled on Glossybox for a few months at least to see how it goes! So I put my order in for the rolling month subscription on the first of September and the box was shipped out pretty quickly and I was really excited to get it! This months box was themed "back to school" with 6 handbag essentials. It included 2 makeup items, 1 haircare item and 2 skincare items and 1 random one! Since it's my first box I thought I would do a review of the products in this months box!

Firstly the box included the Bang Beauty eyebrow pomade. I was excited for this product but pretty nervous too because the shade they gave us was "Auburn" and I was really worried it would be too warm toned! I was surprised they gave this colour actually I thought they would have gone for a light or dark brown! But actually the shade is fine, it is a little warm but it works fine it's not a brick colour like some auburn eyebrow shades are. The actual product I love! It's a gorgeous creamy formula and it looks so nice! I am obsessed with how it looks actually and it makes filling in your brows really easy, especially for people like me who aren't very good at eyebrows!

The second makeup product the box included was the Karl Lagerfeld and Model co lipliner in Rosewood. I was really excited for this and it doesn't disappoint at all I love this lipliner! It's an amazing formula and glides on the lips and is an absolutely gorgeous colour honestly. Because of its creamy formula, it does go down quite fast, I've used it twice and already I need to sharpen it so I think it'll be used up quite fast!

I thought I would include a pic of me wearing the lipliner and the eyebrow pomade! I am not a makeup artist or anything obviously so please excuse my dodgy eyeliner but hopefully, it will give you an idea of what the products look like on!

The hair care product this box included was (the only) deluxe sample size of the Grow Gorgeous scalp detox. This is basically an exfoliant for your scalp! This is a pretty pricey product full size (£30) and if I am being honest I'm not 100% sure how much it does, I think it might do more if you use a lot of product on your hair which I don't really. But it smells amazing and it feels like you are giving yourself a little spa day! It's a nice luxury product I just don't think I'd buy the full size!

The box also included the Daily Concepts your Facial mini scrubber. This is a little face scrubber which I use with my facial wash! I like this product it gives your face a nice exfoliate without being too harsh or making my face red or upsetting it. I really like this product and when the label becomes faded that's when you're supposed to buy a new one which I think is really cool.

Another skincare item the box included was the Pro beauty charcoal face mask. This is a single-use sheet mask for acne prone skin like me! I really liked this mask, I feel like sheet masks need to be used a few times to see much difference but I thought my skin looked a lot brighter after using this which was pretty cool but I didn't see much of a change in my breakouts!

Finally, the box included some wet wipes! Not much to say about these but I will definitely be bringing them for Amsterdam next week with me!

Overall I really enjoyed this month Glossybox and I am excited to get next months too. If you're looking for a subscription box to get into I would recommend this!
I hope you enjoyed this post!
Lots of love,
I hope you are doing well! Today I wanted to review two recent Revolution palettes, the Soph extra spice eyeshadow palette and the Imogenation highlight to the moon palette. I put a tweet up a while ago asking if people wanted a review of the extra spice palette and most people said yes! Plus I also wanted to talk about the "highlight to the moon" palette by Imogenation.

In case you haven't stepped into Superdrug recently, the makeup company Revolution has been bringing out quite a lot of palettes with a few YouTubers. I have a few of the recent launches and I wanted to share my own thoughts and opinions on them! I already did a whole post dedicated to Carmi MUA's eyeshadow palette which you can find here . The only other palette I have that I haven't reviewed yet is Tammi's palette so I might talk about that some point in the future.

First of all, this eyeshadow palette is gorgeous! I love the shiny peach packaging and I love the layout of the palette, with the shade names under each shade too I think it looks really high end! I actually own the first palette Soph brought out with Revolution so I was pretty excited to see this one!

But, I have to confess something here with absolutely no disrespect so Soph who I love, I personly just wasn't overwhelmed with the colours when I first saw it. Some of the colours seemed quite similar to me to the colours in her first palette, for example, the crease colours, although gorgeous, were quite similar to some of the ones in her first palette. There is a shimmery purple colour as in the old palette, a flash of green also as in the first palette and a shimmery gold ( we had 3 shimmery golds in the first palette), a matte black, a dark brown, and I was just a bit underwhelmed, I'm sorry! For me, I was worried they would be too similar. But perhaps Soph designed this palette with the idea that not everyone had the first palette! So wanted to include some similar colours.

When I actually got the palette I started to really love it! There are a lot of colours in the new one that the old didn't have, for example, two matte oranges and a yellow, as well as a gorgeous shimmery yellow! Furthermore, the bright red shade really stands out to me, as well as the gorgeous silver (I love a good silver eyeshadow) and the colour " every day."

The standard and formula of these shadows are amazing for only £10 and blend really easily, and using these shades I created a really gorgeous sunset eye makeup look which I loved! Overall I would recommend this palette it does fit in really nicely in my collection!

Imogenation highlight to the moon:

As with the Soph palette, I love the packaging on this! The reflective purple blue look is really cool and I love it! The only problem I have is that I find it really hard to open? But maybe that's just me! Despite the name, this palette actually only holds 3 highlighters. The rest of the palette consists of 3 powders and 3 contour shades so the name is pretty misleading. In my personal opinion, I wish she had included 3 blush shades instead of powders but that's just me! I have used the powder "pretty heart" a lot under my eyes and to be fair I quite like it I don't really have anything negative to say about it. The other two powders are a yellow shade and a darker warm-toned shade.

This palette consists of 3 contour shades, but I think the shades "literally" and "warrior" are basically the same colour? Both of them work well for my fair skin tone and they would be really light for a lot of people. "Can't deal" is a darker contour shade but I am not too sure if it's dark enough for a lot of skin tones really, plus since the other two shades are so similar there isn't really a shade for a medium skin tone!

Finally, I really like all three highlight shades! Slay my life is my personal favourite and I've been wearing this a lot! But again all these shades are good for my skin tone, and I think she should have included a deeper highlight shade as I imagine the shades are too light for a lot of people with a deeper skin tone! I also find that although the shade "slay my life" looks like a peachy gold shade, the shade "angel face" is actually a lot more peachy/ golden which is strange.

So those are my thoughts on these two palettes from Revolution!
Lots of love,
Today's blog post is yet another book review! 3 reviews in two weeks aren't you guys lucky ey! It's a review of Bernard Cornwell's recent book Fools and Mortals. I haven't actually read anything by Cornwell before although I shamelessly have nearly all of the Last Kingdom book series in a bag in my room that I am yet to read. But my mum read Fools and Mortals and enjoyed it and suggested I read it!

This book is set in Elizabethan London and is about Richard Shakespeare, Williams younger brother who is a "player" in his brothers acting company. Richard is desperate to be given a bigger male role in the plays as he is struggling for money and when Williams plays go missing he is put under suspicion.

I don't really go for historical type books very often but I do really enjoy them so I was excited to get transported back to Elizabethan England and this book was very descriptive and gave a good view of the dangerous, patriarchal times as well as following the story of Richard. I enjoyed the overall story arc and found it exciting and pretty tense at some points too. It's not extremely fast paced all the way through, and my mum kept describing it to me as "gentle" which I wouldn't say either because of the violence in parts, but I know what she means, it doesn't exactly keep you on tenterhooks particularly all the way through it's quite a slow arc. But don't get me wrong, it's definitely not boring!

I enjoyed the characters, I thought they were all written well and came alive for me and I enjoyed the love story unfolding between Richard and Sylvia too. I enjoyed the relationship between Richard and William Shakespeare actually I thought that it could be quite realistic, they obviously don't get on well, William finds him annoying and whiny, and Richard thinks his brother is mean and rude and this starts to develop and change throughout the book which is nice to see a progressing relationship. I found some of the characters humorous and I enjoyed the speech in this book!

I felt like this book genuinely gave an insight of what it was like in London in the Tudor times and with the rising of the theatre and actors and I found it to be a really interesting book too.

I liked the ending of this book too actually but I did have a bit of a problem with how one character, in particular, ended up...

Overall I would really recommend this book I enjoyed reading it and it's definitely motivated me to give Cornwell's Last Kingdom series a read finally!
Lots of love,
I hope you are doing well! It's been a while since I shared my skincare routine and I am currently really happy with my routine so I thought I would share it with you guys! If you didn't know (if you follow me on twitter @ellie_smithxo you probably already knew) I struggle with acne prone skin which is oily combo! I am on antibiotics currently for my acne which is helping a lot but I am really liking the skincare I am using to supplement it too.

AM:
So in the morning, surprisingly, I just wash my face with some water and moisturise since I use quite a lot of products at night! When I get out of the shower I literally just give my face a quick splash with cold water and that's it.

PM:
Firstly, if I am wearing makeup, I use some micellar water and some cotton pads to take my eye makeup and eyebrows off. I like to have a bottle of micellar water as it is useful to have around, sometimes I just use it to take all my makeup off or to "wash my face" if I am sick. That only happens once in a while but it's still useful!

Then, (again only if I am wearing makeup) I use the Superdrug naturally radiant hot cloth cleanser. I had a break from this product and came back to it, it's definitely my favourite makeup remover after the Liz Earle one (it's cheaper so I tend to go for the Superdrug one!). You can read a review I did of this cleanser a while ago here.

After removing my makeup (or if i never had any on) I use the Kiehls calendula facial wash. I've written a blog post on why I like this facial wash here. This gets rid of any remaining makeup and gives my face a good clean. It mattifies any oiliness I have too and I really enjoy using this!

After this, once a week, I will use the nip and fab glycolic facial scrub. I have only just started using this really since my Kiehl's liquid exfoliant ran out. I prefer a daily liquid exfoliant so if you have any recommendations let me know! But I do like this nip and fab scrub, I just find it a bit too abrasive although it will do for now!

Then I move onto toner. My favourite toner at the moment is the Liz Earle instant boost skin tonic. This is so gentle on the skin and really soothes my acne so I have been liking this at the moment!

Finally, I use the Superdrug Vitamin E day cream. I like this moisturiser and I have been using it for a while! I find that not too much is needed either from it as a little bit goes a long way!

If I have any large spots I use the body shop's tea tree night cream on top of them! I love this little cream it reduces redness overnight so I would really recommend it!

And that is my current skincare routine! Do you guys use any of these products?
Lots of love,
I hope you are doing well! I really wanted to write a favourite post because there are a few things I have been loving over the last few months! I haven't done a favourite post for ages actually so I hope you enjoy!

So the first thing I have been loving recently is using the thicker Babyliss curling wand (that I steal from my sister) to curl my hair with! I have recently cut my hair a bit shorter so I have been liking styling it with a middle parting and giving it a bit of curl!

The second thing I have been loving recently is the body shop shower gels! I am the type of person who spends like £1 max on whatever shower gel I can find in Sainsburys! But I have been loving getting some body-shop shower gels recently! Particularly mango, satsuma and argon oil are my fave scents!

Makeup Revolution have been absolutely killing it recently with their releases! I have three of their newer eyeshadow palettes and lipsticks and I have been loving all of them! The ones I have are the Carmi, Soph extra spice and Tammi palettes! I actually did a review of the Carmi Palette not so long ago that you can check out here. I have also been loving the lipsticks that Soph brought out too! I have cake and fudge and can't wait to get my hands on syrup! These have definitely been my favourite makeup purchases recently!

A shampoo I have been loving is the Garnier ultimate blends honey shampoo! The smell of this is absolutely gorgeous and so far it hasn't upset my scalp! It makes my hair lovely and soft and keeps it from looking greasy for ages!

Some fashion things I have been loving are my recent Pull and Bear orders! These gorgeous patterned trousers and these jeans with the roses on! I am not normally very adventurous with my bottoms, just opting for plain jeans or skirts but I fell in love with these and had to get them to up my wardrobe game!

I have also been loving watching a few things recently! I really enjoyed season 6 of Orange is the new black! If you know me you will know that oitnb is my all time fave show so I was so excited for season 6 to come out! I definitely really enjoyed it and I can't wait for the next season! Another thing I have been enjoying recently is Queer eye! This is such a nice watch that always makes me feel happy and warm inside but rarely fails to make me cry! Finally, I am a bit late but i have been really liking Friday night dinner to put on when I want something light to watch!

My favourite book recently was the Trouble with Goats and Sheep by Joanna Cannon. I read a book not so long ago that I really didn't like and it put me off reading for a bit! Which is really unlike me but I really struggled to get back into reading and this book was the perfect book to get back into reading with!

So they are the things I have been loving recently! Have you been liking any of these recently?
Lots of love,
I am back with another book review today! I read this book before I even went on holiday but because I have been the worst blogger in the world recently I have only just got round to doing a review of it!

The main reason I actually bought this book was because I own and have read all of John Green's previous books and I didn't want to leave this one out of my collection! Before reading it I was a bit nervous about reading it which sounds a bit stupid but I was kind of nervous that I would feel I had outgrown John Green? So I put off getting this book for quite a while. However, I actually did really enjoy this book and enjoy reading this book and I thought I would share some of my thoughts!

This book is about Aza, a girl who suffers from anxiety disorders who searches with her "best and most fearless friend" Daisy for a missing fugitive who also happens to be the dad of an old friend of Aza's. When reading this sort of basic blurb for this book I was pretty excited! I was excited for a bit of a mystery book and I was a little disappointed on this front when I got into it and realised it wasn't really a clue finding scooby doo sort of book. I just wish there had been some more actual mystery/detective work I'm sorry!!

Having said that, most importantly this book is an excellent retelling of what living with anxiety is like. Aza has these thought spirals that she struggles to get out of and as someone who really struggles with this too I was literally shouting out loud "yes" sometimes because I wholeheartedly agreed. It feels so true to home and accurate and I hope that people will read this and understand what living with anxiety is actually like. The other thing I really liked about this book was that it did include what life was like for the best friend of someone with anxiety too. Although I thought at some points Daisy was extremely harsh, I'm glad that Green included that side too, and how it can be difficult for them too. Which is of course not Aza's fault, but I am glad it included this as I'm sure this resonates with people too.

I really liked the characters in this book, but like with all of John Green's books, I often find bits of it really unrealistic. Like Aza is a deep thinker, this is obvious, but at times I felt like it was almost too deep? I don't really know how to explain it but at times it felt a bit unrealistic and extreme, but perhaps that was the point!

Now the ending I found a bit unexpected! The ending opened up more questions than it bloody answered! But I did quite like it I just wished more things had been explained...

Overall I really enjoyed this book, I am a sucker for John Green's writing which I know a lot of people don't like but I can't help it. I think it's actually one of my favourite John Green novels and I would recommend it!
Lots of love,
I hope you guys are doing well! I think it's been so long since I have uploaded a book review which sucks I feel like the worlds worst book blogger! Honestly, I haven't been reading as many books as I would have liked I'm not too sure why but I need to get back to reading books although I think at this point I am never going to beat the number of books I read last year! But I did read this book that was kindly sent to me while I was on holiday and I wanted to talk about it a bit!

So this book is about two people, Vivian and Andre, who have very different and sure ideas about what they want to do, and who meet at uni and fall immediately in love. They actually meet pretty quickly in the book and I would have maybe preferred to meet and get to know the characters individually before we meet them together if that makes sense! I just felt I didn't get to know the characters enough individually! Since both characters have such strong clear goals about their lives I wish this had been explored more. Vivian spends some time in Africa which stimulates her to want to work there and I just wish this had maybe been discussed some more so we could really understand her if that makes sense!

I think this book has a really good premise and if you're a sucker for a love story with a good sort of “will they won't they” story line I think you'll enjoy this! It is 100% a love story and I think if you're an old romantic I can see you enjoying this book a lot. It does immerse you into the lives of these two individuals and it's quite nice to be swept into this book.

There were one or two little things that struck me when reading this book, for example even though Vivian is Spanish, Andre is Italian and they meet in India with Vivian visiting Ghana and speaking to the children, it is pretty confusing as to why languages aren't addressed? Are they all fluent in many languages? What language do they use to communicate to each other and to others? I mean it's not like a big deal or anything I was just a bit confused. Another thing I found slightly difficult to read at times was the dialogue, which at times was a bit unrealistic!

Overall, I think this is definitely a book for the romantics and for people who enjoy books with a tragic love story!
Lots of love,
So as always when I come home from a holiday I like to show you guys some snaps and what I got up to! This year with my family I was lucky enough to go to France for 10 days. We went to the Vendee region, near the Loire valley and it was so lovely to be there and have a nice break!

So we actually drove to France rather than flying, so the first couple of days were just spend driving, getting the ferry, and then driving again so there wasn't too much to report really! After that, we actually spend the first three days at Puy De Fou which is actually a French historical theme park. It's pretty difficult to explain, but there are little shows on and things and it's really cool! We actually stumbled on it about 10 years ago on a different trip to France and we really wanted to go back so we finally got round to it! We actually stayed this time on the actual site and we stayed in the Renaissance part in this cool looking Tent. I'll show you guys some pics of the place we stayed and also a few from the shows so you can get a feel for what Puy de Fou actually is!

After a super busy 3 days we made our way to Saumur for the rest of our holiday. We were staying in a really gorgeous apartment right in the centre of Saumur and I loved it so much! It felt really authentically french to me if you know what I mean it I thought it was so pretty and cute! On the first day we actually just walked around Saumur. We were all really tired so we didn't want to do too much! I took loads of pictures while I was there (you can so some on my insta littlethoughtsfromlittlepeople) but I'll pop in some of my faves at day and at night!
While we were in Saumur we also spent a day looking around the Saumur Chateaux which was really pretty! You can see it in the above photo too in one of the night photos! We also spend a day going to a nearby Abbey where Eleanor of Aquitaine was buried which was really interesting too! And we spend another day going in and out of a few Troglodyte's including a wine cellar that gave out a lot of free samples of wine!

For our final full day, we travelled into Tours. This is a much bigger city that's about an hour away but still had a lot of history and a lot of beautiful buildings too!
So that was my holiday to France! I hope you enjoyed this post! Have you ever been to any of the places mentioned here?
Lots of love,
Long time no see huh! It's been so long since I have blogged, well over a month which I am definitely not proud of! In fairness to me, since I posted my last post I have been so so busy! Today I am going to try my best to have a bit of a blogging day and write a few blog posts today to try and get up over the next couple of weeks (between binge-watching season 6 of OITNB of course).

So! First of all, I really wanted to start with a catch-up post, a lot has happened since I did my last catch up post all the way back in January! First of all, the main thing is I finished my third year of university with a first class degree! I am so stoked and proud of myself not going to lie. If you remember my last catch up post I was talking about how I was applying for masters and I went for my interview for the clinical psychology masters BUT I didn't actually get in. They only took on 10 people and there were 100 people who applied. They said my interview went well and a was put on their reserve list and I moved on and got a place in the mental health and wellbeing masters instead. However, while I was on holiday I received a phone call to let me know that due to them getting more places and people dropping out I got a place on the clinical masters so I am so pleased about that too! It feels surreal that I am going to be on the masters that I really wanted after basically forgetting and assuming I'd never get onto it!

So after I pressed send on my last blog post over a month ago, I have been non-stop busy. I went down to Nottingham to have my graduation which was amazing! I had a really lovely day actually and I'll insert some pics here (just incase you weren't already bored of seeing my graduation pics everywhere). It kind of feels like a celebration of everything you've achieved so if you didn't know whether to go or not to yours I would really recommend going!
I hope you are doing well! Today I wanted to do a review of the Carmi eyeshadow palette. Carmi is a youtube and works for the revolution social team and recently brought out an eyeshadow palette with them. I don't know if I have been missing them, but I haven't seen any blog posts with anyone talking about this palette so I thought I would do a review! Soph and Tammi have also brought out palettes with revolution so I think I'll do reviews of them too over the next month or two.

So the palette actually has two highlighters and 10 eyeshadows but for me the gold highlighter is too dark so I use it as an eyeshadow. First of all, I really like the packaging on this palette. I really like the black and gold. I am not too big a fan of the light highlighter if I am being honest, it's called flash me and has a green shift to it that I'm personally not crazy about! But it could be good for a night out.

Now the rest of the shades I absolutely love! It's really different from the rest of my eyeshadow palettes and has some gorgeous shades that I don't have in any other palettes. It's full of really bright colours, and the only downside of that is you may need to dip into other palettes if you want some neutral shades in your look too.

I like that this palette has a day and a night side, with the yellow red and orange being the more day colours, with the two shimmery pinks in the middle and then the other colours, including a fuchsia and a turquoise to spice things up a little bit. All the shades are really pigmented and blend really easily too.

This palette might not be for everyone because there aren't any neutral tones in really, and the colours are pretty bright! But I personally really love it and even convinced my sister to buy it and she wears the two pink shades every day.

Overall I really love this eyeshadow palette and would really recommend it! I think the colours are amazing and the quality is really good too!

Lots of love,
Hope you are doing well! Over the past few weeks I've picked up a few different bits and pieces in different shops and I thought I would show you what I have got! It's a pretty random mix, a bit of everything really so I hope you enjoy!

Accessorize:
I find it really hard to find sunglasses that I actually like and I've been looking for the perfect pair of sunnies for a while! I finally found a pair that I really loved from Accessorize! These are pretty oversized and I love them! Plus for £10 they aren't too pricey either!

New look:
So many shops have had a lot of sales on recently and New look have such a good sale on! First of all, I picked up this soft yellow pull over. It's pretty lightweight so it's perfect for the summer evenings and I really like how it looks with shorts and jeans too. I am really obsessed with everything French at the moment so the french writing is a big love for me!
The second thing I picked up in the sale was this stripy teeshirt! It's just pretty plain but I like the French vibes! Plus it was only £3!

A week later I popped back into New Look and picked up a few extra things! I got another pair of sunnies for £5 which I really like and a new pair of shoes! These are flat black pointed toe shoes with a strap to stop my feet falling out! I got them mainly for my graduation to put on as the day goes on as they are smart but flat so should save my aching feet! But I think they'll look nice on holiday and just with a pair of jeans too in the summer. Unfortunately, they were not in the sale and were £16.

Books:
I picked up a couple of books too! Firstly How to be Parisian wherever you are which I have read already and really enjoyed! If you want a tongue in cheek easy read then I would recommend this! I also got Turtles all the way down which I am currently reading and when I finish this I'll get a blog post of it up!

Primark:
I picked up one thing from Primark! I was desperate to find a nice big floppy hat and I can't find any that I like! This was the best one I could find and it was only £5 but I am still keeping my eye open to see if I can find something else.

Charity shop:
I honestly don't really shop that often in charity shops but we were in one the other day and I saw these two goodies! It made me really want to start shopping in them more! Firstly I picked up this super cute shirt! Excuse the bad photo of it but it's really light and pretty and I honestly can't get enough. It was only £4 too and it's from Miss Selfridge originally.
The second thing I picked up I am head of heels with. It's a lovely red trench coat/mac thing! It's such a gorgeous length on me (normally trench coats are normally way too long for my tiny 4ft11 frame) and it was only £8 too! I am obsessed with it I love the way it flares out a little at the end too. It was from F&F originally. It's pretty lightweight so I think it will be nice for the autumn.

Superdrug:
I picked up the new Soph x Revolution eyeshadow palette! I only picked this up today so I am yet to give it a go but I am sure I will share my thoughts over on my insta or twitter!

CEX:
Me and my sister have recently been loving playing with our old DS! So I went in and got some new games for extremely cheap! I picked up 4 imagine games and a band game for our Wii.

Hope you are doing well! Sorry, I feel like I haven't posted in quite a while but I am back with a new blog post today! I am going to try really hard to get blogging a bit more this summer I don't know what's come over me but I've been in a bit of a blogging slump recently and haven't felt motivated!

Anyway, today I wanted to talk about 3 products from Kiehl's that I have been trying out recently. If you follow me on twitter (ellie_smithxo btw) and have been seeing some of my recent tweets you will know how much I have been struggling with my skin recently. I don't know what's been happening recently but my skin has been hating me and I have had breakouts all over my face and some awful scarring despite the fact I am on bloody antibiotics. About two months ago I went into Kiehl's and got a few full sized products and some testers to see how they would fair on my acne prone skin.

The first product I got is the Calendula deep cleansing foaming face wash. Since my acne has been quite bad, I have given double cleansing a go, using Superdrug hot cloth cleanser (only when wearing makeup) and then using this facial wash afterwards to really clean my face. It took me a while to get how to use this product, you have to mix it with water and lather it between your hands before putting it on your face to get the foam because it comes out as a gel.

I really like the sent of this product. It smells lemony which is really nice and refreshing. This product is for oily skin, and I have to say it really does mattify your skin! My skin genuinely looks instantly mattified after using this product which I really like. Unfortunately, this product hasn't really done an awful lot for my breakouts. I don't think it's made them worse or anything like that but I have still been breaking out just as bad as before I started using it so it's not helping to clear them up or anything! For me I don't think I will repurchase especially as it's pretty pricey and it's not doing an awful lot for my acne. But if you have oily skin but aren't acne prone I would recommend this!

The second product I bought was the nightly refining micro-peel which is a chemical exfoliant. The lovely lady suggested this to me because using a scrub can cause spots to bleed which can cause more spots but since you just gently pat this in it exfoliates without knocking the top off spots which made sense to me! To be completely honest after using over half of this product and using it every day for two months I haven't seen an awful lot of difference in my skin, which is a shame as it's so expensive! My dark pigmentation areas are still quite bad and like I said my skin hasn't got any better while using it really so I don't think I'll repurchase. But I will say that it did not irritate my skin or anything and it has opened my eyes to chemical peels and exfoliants and I really want to try some more!

Finally, the third product I have been testing out is the blue astringent herbal lotion which is a toner. This product is designed specifically for acne prone skin and is supposed to target spots. This was actually a tester I got, but I used this tiny bottle every day for a month and I still have some left so it lasts a long time! When I first used this I really really loved it! It smells a bit too strong for me, a little alcoholic, but I really loved it. It feels cooling and makes my face instantly tighter. But I was a bit concerned this toner was a bit too strong for me and my face was feeling quite tight every day and my acne wasn't getting any better! So I actually stopped using this and went back to an old favourite that I hadn't used for a while the Liz Earle toner as I wanted something a bit more soothing for my red inflamed spots!

I hope you enjoyed this post! I will continue to use the cleanser and the exfoliant until the bottles run out I think or at least another few months but unfortunately, I don't think any of these products will be a repurchase for me personally as I'm still looking for something to calm my skin!
What Kiehl's products do you love? Have you got any suggestions for my breakouts?
Lots of love,
I hope you are doing well! Today I wanted to do a post talking about the things I have been reading and watching recently! If you have any recommendations of TV shows or books then please let me know I am always on the lookout for new ones!

Reading:

The Night Circus (Erin Morgenstern): I actually did a full review of this book which I'll link here so I won't talk about it too much! But I really enjoyed this book and if you do like fantasy and magic I think you will also really enjoy it, definitely up there with my favourite books I've read this year.

Get your shit together (Sarah Knight): I read the life-changing magic of not giving a fuck earlier in the year and while I liked it I didn't love it but I have to say get your shit together is way more up my street! I felt like it resonated a bit more with me, I thought the life-changing magic was aimed at people a bit older than me but I felt a bit more of a connection with this one! If you are looking for an unusual self-help book I would recommend this book and I am really excited to pick up her third book you do you at some point.

The Girl Before (JP Delany): I decided not to do a full review of this book but I will give you a quick summary of what I thought! It is a psychological thriller book compared to the likes of Girl on the train. I wasn't too sure what to expect when I read this book but to be honest it wasn't my favourite book, it definitely wasn't as gripping as Girl on the train! But I enjoyed it on a superficial level and there were a few twists and turns and I think it would be a good beach read. Bit of a warning, it has quite a lot of fifty shades of grey esque sex scenes in which I wasn't the biggest fan of which put me off the book a bit and there were some other things I didn't agree with.

Release (Patrick Ness): I just finished this book today and I really enjoyed it. It was really different (I've read a lot of different books recently!) and again I wasn't sure what to expect but I have wanted to read it for ages! I am going to put up a full review of this I think next week so I won't write too much here, but I did enjoy it!

Films:

Deadpool 2: I went to the cinema to see the latest Deadpool and I really enjoyed it! I found it pretty funny and silly and a good watch!

The Intern: I watched this film the other day on Netflix and I loved it! I honestly fell in love with this film I thought it was the cutest thing! If you're looking for a cute heartwarming film to watch when it's raining outside I would really recommend this!

Edge of 17: I finally got round to watching this film now that it's been put on Netflix! I did enjoy this film actually, it wasn't quite up to the hype I don't think, but I still thought it was pretty funny and really sad at the same time and super relatable!

Alice Through the Looking-glass: I really enjoyed Alice in Wonderland so I wanted to give this a watch and I really liked it! It was pretty amusing and really pretty to watch! I think this is a good film for all ages to watch!

TV Shows:

Safe: Me and my friend at uni watched this over two days! There are only 10 episodes and it's pretty tense so it's really easy to get through! I did like this show but I guessed the ending and I didn't think it was absolutely amazing like some of the reviews I was reading! But I did like it and I would still recommend, I just didn't think it was absolutely insane.

The Alienist: I loved this T.V series! I found it was really gripping and it was pretty intense! You have to stay pretty focused though and I often had to go back because I had missed things! I thought the ending was a bit anti-climatic but I really hope they make a season 2 because I really got into the characters and I think there is a potential for the characters and I want to learn more about them.

13 reasons why season 2: This has been talked about so much recently and I don't think there's anything I particularly want to add that hasn't been said already to be honest! I think that it wasn't as gripping as the first season and I kind of wish they would have given it a happy ending and then just ended it if I am being honest I don't really want a third season!

I Hope you enjoyed this post! Like it said if you have any recommendations for me please let me know!
Lots of love,

Little Thoughts From Little Peoplehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01699188347229363758noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6562482007580682186.post-24500284497342730152018-06-04T09:02:00.000-07:002018-06-04T09:48:37.937-07:00Testing Obsession eyeshadows and highlighterHey guys! I hope you are all doing well! Despite eyeshadows being my one true love, I actually haven't bought one for ages, nor have I done a blog post about an eyeshadow palette for a long time! But there have been a few eyeshadow palettes I have had my eye on for a bit, one of those being the new (ish) Obsession customisable palettes, so when I spotted the 6 single eyeshadows/highlighters/bronzers/blushes for £12 with a free palette I couldn't resist picking some up and I thought I would share my thoughts. Just a warning, there may be a few eyeshadow palette reviews coming up through June!

Obsession is a brand owned by Tam beauty I think, and you can currently only buy it online and in Boots stores. Their products are incredibly affordable, with each single eyeshadow retailing for just £3. Unfortunately, since their eyeshadows are single you need to buy a palette too, but these are cheap ranging from £4-£6 for a medium palette (6 spaces) or £6-£8 for a large palette (12 spaces). The eyeshadows do pop in and out easily but they feel secure in the palette.

I decided to try 5 eyeshadows and one highlighter too and I went for the shiny gold palette over the matte black one. The colours I decided to go for were (Top row from L-R) Lightning, Sun Ray, Brooklyn, (bottom row, L-R) Crimson, Gold and St Tropez. As you can see, the only matte colour I went for was the matte pink, Sun Ray, so this definitely isn't a palette I can use just on it's own really but I wanted to grab some colours I didn't really have in my other (many) palettes.

The shade "lightning" for me is the highlight shade, but I did pick up Gold too which is also technically a highlight shade but it's obviously too dark for me but I wanted it as an eyeshadow. To be honest, lightning isn't my favourite highlighter in the world, I do like it but it's very glittery and sheer, and the glitter does spread a bit too. If you hate glitter highlights and love more of a "sheen" you will not like this highlight! But it does look really nice as an inner corner highlight, I'm just not a big fan of it as a cheekbone highlight, or perhaps it would be pretty fun for a festival!

Nevertheless, the 5 eyeshadows I absolutely love! As you can see from the swatches, they're really pigmented and they blend in really easily. The only colours that don't show up well as a swatch is lightning obviously as it's so sheer and Sun Ray, but this pink is pigmented on the lid it just doesn't swatch as well as it is matte. The green colour, St Tropez, is so bright and lovely and probably my favourite colour in the set. I created a look with this palette bringing the pink (Sun Ray) into the crease, and building up a halo eye with Brooklyn and Crimson and popping St Tropez in the middle for a fun colourful eye! I also did it with Gold over the lid too for a bit more of a subtle look.

Overall I would recommend these eyeshadows and I am definitely going to pick up some more colours!
Have you tried Obsession before?
Lots of love,
I hope you are doing well! Now that I have finished my exams I have really wanted to get back into reading this summer and try and get back to the library and read some more! I bought The Night Circus by Erin Morganstern a while ago but I have saved it until I finished my exams to read it and I thought I would do a review on it!

I actually went into this book blind, I had heard a lot of good reviews for it but I had no idea about the plot line or what the book was about at all and the blurb of the book gives very little away too. But the basic story line is about these two great magicians, who have very different ways of teaching, pick a child and teach them magic. Then over the years there is this mysterious test that the children are being taught for. This time the stage of the test is a mysterious travailing circus and things are made more complicated when the two contestants, Celia and Marco, meet and fall in love.

The thing with this book is that it has a large focus on this magical circus, made up of the amazing tents as well as the main story line which I personally loved. I really liked this book for its gorgeous descriptions and it's imagery. It really feels like you're stepping into this magical world and that personally kept me reading. For me, the characters and the plot line were almost secondary to the circus if that makes sense, which I was fine with since I wasn't the biggest fan of many of the characters if I am being honest.

Having said that, I don't think this book is for everyone. While I personally loved reading about the circus so much I could totally understand how people would find this book "boring". It's not exactly action packed, there are no big twists or turns and it sort of feels like in terms of the actual so called test Celia and Marco have to do, nothing really happens until the end and even then it's a bit of a strange ending. This book had a serious "Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell" feel to it, a book I read last year and personally loved so this kind of book is definitely on my wavelength and if you read that book and loved it then I think you will really like this book too. But when reading this be prepared for a large focus on the circus itself and the circus characters and the meetings about the circus rather than the plot line I discussed above.

For me the main reason I loved this book was really the description of the circus and all of the tents which are in the circus Morgenstern's writing style and description made it so easy to visual the circus and it made me just want to crawl inside the pages and never leave! It is a gorgeous book to read but like I said above, it's not a book I would recommend to everyone and if you love action packed "exciting" books then I don't really think this is the book for you! But if you love magic and lovely imagery with an air of mystery then I think you will!

Lots of love,
I am back to blogging again! I have been away for a bit while I was coming towards the end of my third year because things have just been so busy and stressful recently and I just felt like I couldn't concentrate properly on writing blog posts, and to be honest I just had no creativity while I was revising! But I had my last exam on Monday so I am hoping to be back blogging once or twice a week!

A while ago I made a blog post on some easy student recipes for the student who can't cook! And I thought it was about time I made a second part to that and shared some more recipes for you guys who struggle with thinking of meals or cooking at uni! As with the first part, these recipes are really really simple with not so many ingredients! Hopefully, this will help you with a few recipes that you might not have thought of to make!

Pitta Bread Pizzas:

This is a really easy three ingredient recipe that is great for when you're on a budget and can't afford to buy a dominoes! Or want a bit of a healthy alternative to normal pizza.
You need:
Pitta bread
tomato puree
cheese
(any other extra things you want to pop on)

Just assemble the pizzas by spreading the tomato puree on the pitta bread's and pop the cheese on top! I would say about two per person, and the great thing is you can freeze pitta bread's too so you can always keep some in your freezer for an easy meal. Put them in the oven for about ten minutes or grill them for about 3-5 minutes.

Pasta bake:

This is quite a classic recipe that, if you're starting to cook for yourself for the first time, might be useful to know!
You need:
Pasta
chesse
a filling (veggies, ie peppers, broccoli ect or meat, chicken, bacon, chorizo or tuna are all really nice)
a pasta bake sauce ( a shop bought one or make your own if you're feeling fancy)

First of all, cook the pasta for a little bit shorter than you would normally. While doing this preheat the oven. While the pasta is cooking, also cook your filling too ie your chicken or your veggies ect. Then pop the pasta into a baking dish, and add the sauce to it and the filling. Then top it off with cheese and put it in the oven for about 25 minutes.

Jacket potatoes/ jacket sweet potatoes:

This is one of my go-to recipes on a weekday night that I go back to all the time! Its so easy and if you're cooking for yourself I think its so easy to make! I often swap a white potato for a sweet potato instead and they're just so gorgeous! This is so simple just pop the potato in the oven for 1 hour and top it off with whatever you want. My personal favourite way to eat them is to top them off with hummus with a side of fresh tomatoes peppers and cucumber! It's a pretty tasty healthy midweek dinner.

Fajitas:

This is a super easy recipe to make that's really nice for a weekend treat for every student. You can buy the kits in any supermarket, including aldi and they come with tortillas, a spice mix and usually some salsa so all you need to do is buy some chicken breasts and peppers or if you're making veggie ones whatever veggies you want! Because the kits come with 8 tortillas, this is a really good one to make between a few of your housemates, because you can all chip in for the ingredients and make it pretty cheap! Or it could just be dinner for a couple of nights...
You need:
oil/ cooking spray
A fajita kit
Chicken breasts
Peppers

Spray/ oil up a pan and cook the chicken and add the spices, then add the peppers to cook too. Warm the tortilla wraps up in the oven/ microwave and then assemble them together!

And there you have it! Some really easy recipes that require a small amount of ingredients for you guys to make! If you guys would like me to take this further and do some super student cooking basics or some tips on how to stay healthy at uni while still on a budget then please let me know because I'd love to do some more!
Lots of love,

I apologies to start this article with such force, however this is my life. I became a doctor with the plain intention of saving a life. It sounds cliché, I admit, but one does not sacrifice their life for one with constant examinations into their thirties, missing your own birthdays as well as important family events, doing 84 hours a week, for their own fun as a doctor. It is with the primary aim of wanting to help people.

I had intended to be a surgeon, I admit it. I enjoyed getting my hands technical with grasping the stitch in a beautiful pattern, to solve a problem then and there, the fast pace, the adrenaline, the actual life in your hands. It was an intoxicating feeling. Then, for one fleeting week, I was exposed to psychiatry whilst being a junior doctor. I had a poor experience in medical school of psychiatry and never got to grips with what it was. I was clueless. If I’m honest, which I always am, you also see the world of medical specialties in a different light once you actually become a doctor. How you view specialties as a medical student is far different to actually working within it as the doctor. In my fleeting week, I was one of the doctors in the psychiatry department. It felt like I had met my soul mate. The instant attraction. Psychiatry was my partner. From that week, I changed my career route to psychiatry and I have never looked back. Gone are the days of bright theatre lights, the rubber gloves suited and booted for surgery, the blood, the organs, and the sutures. I entered through the doors to the Mind, the ocean of personalities, the psychodynamic rays of light, and found my new forefather: Freud.

But with this magical land of neologisms, I came across a demon. That demon was staff abuse. Psychiatry does deal with a mix of patients, and usually in hospital you face the most psychotic patients at their worst. When in such a state, there can be an increased risk of aggression and hostility towards the forefront staff.

There is also a sub speciality of forensic psychiatry, in which you have patients with mental health from a background of some sort of forensic involvement, either directly from prison or with a past history of such. There are rapists, there are paedophiles, and there are psychopaths. I as a doctor cannot choose whom I want to treat. We see the extreme, and treat the extreme.

But this comes with risk, and the risk is normally to us as staff. A psychiatrist has a lifetime risk of being stalked by a patient/or a relative of a patient up to 20%. I have seen staff assaulted, threatened, abused by their patients, and in the sad reality there can be deaths. I am not saying that all patients are at high risk of harm to their staff like this, but that does not mean there are not any statistics of staff not being harmed. I never thought I would have to look at my personal safety when coming to work, but I do. It’s a reality for all of us psychiatric staff. I have been threatened myself and been very nearly attacked by my patients. I have had to make police reports, and take strategies to make sure that I am as a safe as possible. I have had to change my social media so that patients are less likely able to stalk me, and no longer take my car to work as colleagues have had threatening notes left on their cars. I would be lying if I said at times I am not scared of my profession. I have had times when I have not been able to sleep for replaying a near miss incident of a patient trying to attack me earlier that day. I’m not a ninja. I am a doctor to heal. I have had friends say: “well what do you expect, you chose mental health?” That is a stigmatised comment, I know, but the fear is there, and it’s prominent. I commend all the staff, especially the nursing staff for the risks they face at work. I love my job, and I still don’t think I would chose to be another kind of doctor other than a psychiatrist.

I have taken an oath to respect my patients no matter who they are and treat them with the best care I possibly can. However, that does not mean I should fear for my life.
